An article in Mashable today talked about the positive buzz of Google versus Facebook in 2010. The numbers and graph are interesting and demonstrate that although Google still out-klouts Facebook, the gap is narrowing. However, the article caused me to think about a different question. If I had to choose one, Facebook or Google, which would it be?
Frankly, the answer took little debate. I’d choose Google, hands-down. Even as an admitted social media addict and proponent, and with Facebook’s upcoming new messaging system, to me, Facebook is still for fun. Google, on the other hand, has managed to weave its way into my life in so many ways, it’s scary how reliant I am (and I’m guessing many of you are) on its capabilities and syncing functionality; email, calendar, docs, reader.. oh yeah, and that little ‘search’ feature they offer. From checking email on my iPhone approximately five minutes after waking up, to syncing work, fun, and workout calendars, and browsing marketing and fitness blogs before going to bed. I’m a Facebook junkie as much as the next Gen-Y’er, but when it comes to productivity, give me my Google.
So lets hear it: If you had to choose, which would it be, Facebook or Google, and more importantly, why?
